Abstract
Five patients with functional gastrointestinal disorder (FGID) who were normal in UGI series or endoscopic exam and liver function test, and also five patients with acute viral hepatitis(AVH) with severe gastrointestinal symptoms were treated with Clebopride(Cleborile), 1 5mg daily: (t.i.d. a.c.) for a week. Symptom scores and gastric emptying time (GET) with 99mTc-sulfur colloid in water were checked before and at termination of the study. The results are as follows:
1. Initial symptoms were postprandial fullness (10/10), anorexia (10/10), nausea (9/10), meteorism. (9/10), abdominal pain (7/10), eructation (7/10), flatulence (6/10), asthenia (6/10), and diarrhea (2/10). All symptoms exept asthenia in AVH were improved after treatment with Clebopride.
2. In 4 patients (3 FGID, 1 AVH) who showed delayed GET, symptoms were improved markedly after treatment with Clebopride. And GET were reduced also.
3. In 5 patients (1 FGID, 4 AVH) among 6 whose GET were normal or accelerated symptoms were relieved, but in one patient with FGID symptoms were not changed. In all 6 patients GET were delayed after treatment with Clebopride.
In conclusion Clebopride is an effective agent in treating the symptom complex of, FGID and also in treating GI symptoms of AVH.
